Does Google manipulate its Stock Price through Click Fraud?

I run a web site using Yahoo! Merchant solutions that does a good job tracking the page views in real-time. Today at 2:40 PM Pacific time, I had 125 page views according to Yahoo! However, Google Adwords campaign Manager is charging me for 440 clicks. Assuming all the page views came from Google, I am being shorted 315 paid clicks. That is fraud!

My question is Google able to manipulate its earnings through click fraud? Google’s stock price closed on 11-25-2006 at $505.00 per share that remains me of the Internet bubble in the late 90’s that crashed and burned.

Since Google’s main source of income is Adwords and the stock price of a company is set by the revenues, could Google allow the same fraud that can be seen in their Adsense model also take place in Adwords.

FYI about Adsense Fraud. The way it works is someone sets up a Web site with a keyword, say “carrot juice” and puts minimal text that says something about carrot juice, recipes, etc. They then surround the text content wi

Does Google manipulate its Stock Price through Click Fraud?
Probably, the code put on various pages of your sites yielded 125 page views, whereas the rest of your webpages (on which yahoo! code was not there) must have been diverted by google, and this may explain the 315 paid clicks extra.

Google 's 95% earning comes from advertisements like Adsense and Adwords (and ads for search, content.)

What you say might just be happen, but wait......

if someone external is doing click fraud, then 440 people should also come to your site. Check your webstats by getting a free service from http://statcounter.com .

After setting up the code on each page, after 2 weeks you should find where you went wrong. You can contact me always. my email ad - chirag155@yahoo.co.in

There are some good, like the ones for GOOGLE %26amp; Yahoo's search engines, but there also more than several most people recommend you block due to them being used for more sinister purposes...... like harvesting e-mail addresses for spammers to add to their list of people to send junk e-mail to....... or to scrape content off your site to use on their own without permission

Google spellcheck..google toolbar..??

I am running both IE and firefox - firefox for home use and IE for work and with both I would like to have both yahoo toolbar (for the links) and google toolbar (for the spellcheck). Well, the google toolbar is currently showing on the firefox, but not on the IE and when I try to go to View - toolbars, Google toolbar isn't optional to click on in IE. I am thinking that it is because I have it active in firefox.

What I am wondering is if anyone knows how to make the google toolbar work on both IE and firefox or if anyone knows of a spellchecker that I can put on my IE that works like the google spellcheck??

Google spellcheck..google toolbar..??
In Explorer, go to tools. On the drop down, highlight manage add ons. Click on find more add ons. It will take you to IE Marketplace. Click on time savers. The fifth item on the list is a spell checking tool.

I tried putting in the google toolbar to see if she can do a search from it but the page comes up cannot be displayed. I know google is working cause I have no problem on my laptop. Thanks

Google not working??
Hello,

It may be the configuration of Windows XP with the Windows firewall same. Although never occurred to me not tinker with google in a single category. We happened to not make search in all categories and was problem of the connection.

You can configure the firewall of windows (native), configure the firewall program (type Norton, Panda) and see in what gives.

Google.com isn't working for me?

I'm an big Google user and at the moment I have no access to ANY of the Google websites (GMail, Google, Google Earth, Google.co.uk and so on).

I've called friends and apparently it's just me, possibly just this particular computer (Running vista by the way).

Just curious if there's anything I can do to fix it.

I'm currently connecting wirelessly to a router, I've connected to other local wireless networks and still nothing. As you can tell I have normal access to any other website except this particular one.

I've tried other browsers... nothing

I even attempted to ping it and also nothing.

The Google Apps also do not work

Any ideas?

Google.com isn't working for me?
there is actually a malware/virus associated with this problem. i quote the following:

"You had some sort of malware that updated your HOSTS file. Note that all the entries are for computer security sites and search engines.

You can fix this, but I'd also post a HijackThis log in your HJT forum, because we're not fixing the root cause by doing this.

Open HOSTS again with NOTEPAD, and delete EVERYTHING after the line.

127.0.0.1 localhost

You should be left with the following HOSTS contents, save it and see if it works better.

1. It is the limitation of your software and/or where you placed the code.

Complaint: Google Inc – Gmail email service. Gmail service does not fulfill a range of conditions under data p

Gmail email service.Gmail service does not fulfill a range of conditions under data protection law.

I am writing this because my Gmail email account has been closed since March 16, 2008 without my knowledge and consent. I am writing with regard to the Web mail service that was established at an International level by Google Inc, a US based company that operates the world’s most popular Internet search engine.

The issues I raise in this complaint are the scale and functionality of the Gmail service that poses a heightened level of threat to the rights of individuals and to the security and privacy of communications. At a more general level, the service – like others of its type operating in the US where there is an absence of equivalent legal protections – appears to violate EU data protection law.

Security of data

Under Section VIII article 17 of the EU Data Protection Directive a data controller must take full responsibility and accept liability for the security of personal information. This applies equally when the data is processed outside the EU. However, the Gmail Terms of Use state:

Google disclaims all responsibility and liability for the availability, timeliness, security or reliability of the Service. This is an unacceptable condition. Security must be accorded considerably greater weight within the contract.

Interception and disclosure of content

The privacy of the content of communications must be assured, and any violation of privacy must be subject to due process. However, the Gmail contract states:

Google reserves the right, but shall have no obligation, to investigate your use of the Service in order to determine whether a violation of the Agreement has occurred or to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request.

This condition, invites abuses. More attention to detail is necessary. The word “request” implies a potential for omission of the due process that would be required in the EU and in many other countries.

Some clarification is offered in the following clause:

Google may monitor, edit or disclose your personal information, including the content of your emails, if required to do so in order to comply with any valid legal process or governmental request (such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order), or as otherwise provided in these Terms of Use and the Gmail Privacy Policy.

Note the use of the conjunctive “or”. The word “request” remains undefined. The conditions imposed by US legislation such as the PATRIOT Act could provide a range of opportunities for US agencies to seize content without judicial authority.

Additional concerns arise from the following conditions:

Google also reserves the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any information as it reasonably believes is necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, (b) enforce this Agreement, including investigation of potential violations hereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues (including, without limitation, the filtering of spam), (d) respond to user support requests, or (e) protect the rights, property or safety of Google, its users and the public.

Google will not be responsible or liable for the exercise or non-exercise of its rights under this Agreement.

This sweeping condition should be contrasted with the view of the Article 29 group:

The content of e-mail has to be kept secret and must not be read either by any intermediary or by the Mail Service Provider, even for so called “network security purposes”.

As noted by the Article 29 Group in its guidelines on privacy %26amp; the Internet:

The confidentiality of communications is protected by Article 5 of Directive 97/66/EC. Under this provision, no third party should be allowed to read the contents of e-mail between two parties.

The Article 29 Group provided further elaboration on the question of email

interception:

The Article 29 Working Party has dealt with the privacy aspects of

interception of communications in its recommendation 2/9956. In this

recommendation, the Working Party points out that each interception of

telecommunications, defined as a third party acquiring knowledge of the

content and/or traffic data relating to private telecommunications between two

or more correspondents, and in particular of traffic data concerning the use of

telecommunications services, constitutes a violation of an individual’s right to

privacy and of the confidentiality of correspondence. It follows that

interceptions are unacceptable unless they fulfill three fundamental criteria, in

accordance with Article 8 (2) of the European Convention for the Protection

of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of 4 November 195057, and the

European Court of Human Rights’ interpretation of this provision: a legal

basis, the need for such a measure in a democratic society, and conformity

with one of the legitimate aims listed in the Convention.

And:

Everyone has the right to send a mail to everybody else without that mail

being read by a third party. Article 5 of Directive 97/66/EC, which covers

communications and related traffic data for example sent by e-mail, lays down

obligations as to the confidentiality of communications. In addition to these

obligations, Article 4 of the same directive obliges the providers of

telecommunications services to take appropriate technical and organisational

measures to safeguard the security of their services and to inform users about a

particular risk of a breach of security and any possible remedies, including the costs involved. The Gmail Terms of Use do not recognise these fundamental rights and conditions, nor do the terms set specific parameters for the reading or interception of email content.

Subject control over data

Data Protection law ensures that an individual will have the ability to control her own data. Given the extremely valuable and extensive reserve of communications data that Google wishes its target customers to amass, the following conditions (while not unusual) are unacceptable:

Google may at any time and for any reason terminate the Services, terminate this Agreement, or suspend or terminate your account. In the event of termination, your account will be disabled and you may not be granted access to your account or any files or other content contained in your account although residual copies of information may remain in our system.

Conclusion

I believe the Gmail service involves significant and far-reaching privacy implications. The precedent set by the service; its enhanced functionality and the likelihood of unexpected future changes to the system require serious consideration of data protection issues. I urge everybody of you who reads this, to prospectively investigate this system with a view to establishing appropriate privacy safeguards.

If you don't like the service...delete your account...simple...it's a freemarket economy...take your business elsewhere...not like you paid for gmail anyway...

Oh and your legalese is way off...sounds amateurish...
Reply:I'm not going to read all that, but in general the disclaimer they have included in the terms of service will override any objections.

Is Google becoming evil?

Lately, Google has been doing some pretty bad stuff. Like they tried to get the government to make Microsoft allow Google search in their Vista desktop search. It's Microsoft's OS, and it's better being integrated into the system from Microsoft than Google's junkware sitting on it. Plus Vista desktop search is way better.

Another thing is stealing our privacy. Have you seen the Google Master Plan video? On YouTube. Here it is if you haven't seen it : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOjoReSZg...

It's pretty graphical, and tells how Google is starting to take over the world. I can't trust a web search giant that wants to steal our privacy. Or keep it. So I got tired of Google and I tried some alternatives. Live Search is pretty awesome in my mind. I might switch to it completely soon. It seems as relevant as Google in most parts. So I'll have to say 'hasta la vista google. It's time to move on.'

So do you think Google is (becoming) evil?

Is Google becoming evil?

Although its convenient to put blame on a company, it just works out that in order to rise above the competition, you must be assertive, like Microsoft and Walmart. Regardless of whether Google is evil or not, any self-aware person can protect themselves from identity theft or stolen personal information

Google web search running slow?

As of yesterday, any time I try to go to google's home page, are do a search in my browers built in search bar, google has been taking long to respond.

I've tried several computers, and google runs slow on all of them.

The odd thing is, when I try to go to google.com or search for something, it takes me to google image search (which runs fine) searching for the google.com.

Youtube, google images, google maps, all that is running fine for me. It's just the home page and search engine that don't seem to be working.

Any ideas anyone?

Google web search running slow?
I think problem is not on google side but at your internet service provider. Try to use ping sitename.com -t command on your pc.

Google.com keeps coming up as my home page?

I have scan and deleted any ref. to google in my registry, I keep dleating a folder that keeps coming back called google.com I have uninstalled anything for google but after a reboot google.com is my home page just like some spyware, adware trojan some virus my spyware remover virus scaner and trojan remover don't reconise anything but google.com is a bad nightmare on my computer which is pretty funny cause we always used google.ca and before if we called up google.com it would automaticallly send us to google.ca any ideas

Google.com keeps coming up as my home page?
To reset your home page to whatever you prefer, navigate to that page, whether it's Yahoo or your ISP, or whatever. When you have that page on your screen, click on Tools, then Internet Options. At the top is the Home Page box with the IP address of the current page. Click on Use Current, then Apply in the bottom right corner, then OK. That will set this page as your home page. To change it, just do this over again. Good luck, and hope this helps!
Reply:Go to tools under your explorer option. Click on internet options from the drop down tool bar. Then select the option called blank, and then set the blank option as your default browser. Then click on apply, then click on ok.

I assume you have adware on your computer. To completely get rid of this problem. Open your start menu, select programs option, select accessories, select system tools, select registry restore, then select a time before your computer had the adware installed on it. Then following the instructions, and your computer will be fine, and the adware, and trojan will be gone.
Reply:This same problem with one of our clients drove me nuts for nearly an hour. Each time we changed the home page, it changed right back. Deleting all references and all files just got them recreated the second we opened up internet explorer. Spyware and virus scans were empty.... big "scratch your head" time.

The problem is with one of your protection programs (firewall, antivirus or antispyware). Some malicious programs change your homepage. So... the firewall or antivirus blocks them from doing so. In the process, some will actually block YOU from changing your own home page.

Unhook from the internet (so you can't get infected). Turn off all your antivirus, firewall and antispyware software. Change your homepage. Make sure it sticks. Then restart all your programs and reconnect. Your problem will disappear.
Reply:it's maybe coz you have a corrupted/hi jacked web browser. the prob is easy to address if you had put what browser you use (IE, firefox, opera)...but you can always solve this prob in general by going to the browser's preference/option then change the start-up homepage settings.

Does Google own your words?

At first, everything is fine:

Google claims no ownership or control over any Content submitted, posted or displayed by you on or through Google services. You or a third party licensor, as appropriate, retain all patent, trademark and copyright to any Content you submit, post or display on or through Google services and you are responsible for protecting those rights, as appropriate.

But then something very troubling hits:

By submitting, posting or displaying Content on or through Google services which are intended to be available to the members of the public, you grant Google a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, adapt, modify, publish and distribute such Content on Google services for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting Google services. Google reserves the right to syndicate Content submitted, posted or displayed by you on or through Google services and use that Content in connection with any service offered by Google.

Does Google own your words?
The way I read this (and I'm not a lawyer), you still "own" them, but you've essentially given Google license to use them any way they see fit. They can't, however, stop YOU from using them any way YOU see fit (including selling them), since you still have the copyright. (Yes, you have the copyright even without a copyright notice.)

Is Google evil?

I mean, a comapany with the slogan, 'Don't be evil.' has got to be evil. There's no way it isn't. I really think people should stop using Google... use websites like Yahoo. Yahoo is not evil. To get a job at Google, you have to be like a complete genius, right? I know it. You have to answer impossible questions. Google has to be evil. There was a disturbing report that Google fired a worker for making a joke... Yes, Google is evil. I mean, especially with that slogan. What do you think? Also, look at this:

But there’s also a disturbing truth at work here. Google has gotten arrogant, and the best example is a little-reported incident in mid-July. CNet ran an article warning that Google has amassed enormous amounts of private information about people. And to show how easily Google can be used to pry into people’s private lives, it used Google searches to publish personal information about Google CEO Eric Schmidt, including his salary, neighborhood, his hobbies and his political donations.

Google was not amused, and promptly said it would refuse to talk to any CNet reporters for a year — in essence blackballing CNet.

Imagine if Microsoft had done the same thing — the outcry would be tremendous. But with Google, the act was met by silence, because of all the good will the company has generated.

There are other disturbing signs of arrogance as well. The Times article reported that Google fired am employee after he had joked in his blog that the on-site gym, free meals and other perks Google provides are only offered so that employees would work longer hours without complaining.

Is Google evil?
Maybe. But I use Yahoo!, so it doesn't affect me.

Try Chacha.com / vivisimo.com / yahoo.com for alternatives.
Reply:I feel that you are hurt personally by Google as well. Google may be evil in many cases, and the one with onsite Gym, meals and stuff, is absolutely for Long Hours of FREE work by employees on their own willingness (Psychological Solution)

But Is there any other company which gives you this kind of peace of mind to you on many fronts ?? (Free this, Free that and over all good salary ) Another thing is, Google may ask impossible questions for 2 reasons,

1. Since they are in the most competetive edge of fight, they have to get the best talent with innovative idea.. Who know, one of you has the ability to open another google (means your dream company)

2. Second is, they want to know your current level by asking these questions, so they can plan the training to fill the gap.

So over all you see, there may be many positive and negative points , and I believe that there many many hitech reporters , IT Unions, and IT Governing authorities to takecare of the official issues.

Just because Google has good word of mouth, they can't be taking things for granted .... They will pay for their ILLEGAL things (if any) one day.

Take it easy.

BTW, I have no relation to Google.

Reply:Google is evil. They know more about you than any law enforcement agency in the world. Every search enquiry you've ever typed in is stored against your IP address and for those who have Gmail, a copy of every mail ever sent or recieved is stored away. Also, with the current trend towards wireless hotspots all over the world your laptop has now efectively become a tracking device, enabling people to get a general "fix" on anybodys location. Of course Google do not share this information with anyone at the moment but it is only a matter of time before governments make changes to the law so that this info becomes open to them.

1. Login to your account

2. Click the Edit link next to the My Services list. On this page, you can delete your account.

3. Confirm your account deletion. You'll need to check these two options: 'Yes, I want to delete my account,' and 'Yes, I acknowledge that I am still responsible for any charges incurred due to any pending financial transactions.' (Please be assured that you can safely select the latter option if you haven't used any of Google pay services or if you have no pending financial transactions related to these services.)

Is there any way you can delete all the things you have searched for on google?? Like in the drop down menu thing, where they all show up. I will give anyone 10 points that can successfully help me delete them. Thanks!

Google.......?
She's talking about AutoComplete... This is an easy fix.. you don't/shouldn't have to download an extra program to clear your browser history for you... Here is how to clear this data:

In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" in the menu, then "Internet Options".

Click on the "Content" tab.

Click on the "AutoComplete" button.

Click the "Clear Forms" button.

Click OK until you are out.

In FireFox, Click on "Tools" then "Options"

Click on "Privacy" (padlock at the top)

Click "Clear Saved Form Data Now"

Click OK.

That should do it.

The search history that displays in the search box on the Google homepage is stored by your browser, not by Google. Instructions appear below for disabling this search history in common browsers. If your browser isn't listed, we suggest consulting its online support center.

1. Go to the Tools menu.

2. Select Internet Options and the Content tab.

3. Within the Personal information area, select AutoComplete.

4. Click Clear Forms. You can also un-check the Forms box in this window to keep this information from being stored in the future.

5. Click OK to exit.

Very interesting question.

Google derived its name from the word "googol", a term coined by then nine-year-old Milton Sirotta, nephew of the American mathematician Edward Kasner. The story goes, Kasner had asked his nephew to invent a name for a very large number - ten to the power of one hundred (the numeral one followed by 100 zeros), and Milton called it a googol. The term was later made popular and in Kasner's book, Mathematics and the Imagination, which he co-authored wtih James Newman. Later, another mathematician invented the term "googolplex", which represents ten to the power of a googol - a substantially larger number.

google is a website, its a powerful search engine

to google someone or something go to www.google.com

if you want to google someones name exactly as it is put it in quotes; example "john doe".

be as specific as you want then if you get to many results use more details; example "john doe" Washington, dc.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en%26amp;sa=X%26amp;...

click the ling above for example

you will get phone book results as well as websites mentioning john doe.

you can do allot with google, they have an advanced search page to use if you want, or you can learn all the key words to add to the search bar to bring specific results you are looking for.

Second thing you need to do type in the person you want to "google" in the search box and click search. gratz, you can now brag that you googled that person. Easy as pi.
Reply:The best way to search for a specific individual on Google is to type in their full name in quotes. For example, if you're trying to find John Smith type in the following in Google's search box:

"John Smith"

Then also include other keywords that may pertain to this individual like a school affiliation or a company name or the city they live in. You want to narrow the search using attributes that are relevant to the person you are trying to find. There are likely many other people with the same name on the internet and you want to filter the results with the most accurate information you can provide. But, make sure you include the name in quotes because that ensures the person's full name will be queried in the search results.

Google?????

its www.google.com or www.google.co.in ,whenever i type google.com,the site automaticaly becomes .co.in,google india,who so?

Google?????
.in is the domain %26amp; thats for india like .us for united states, .ch for china, .au for australia %26amp; the list goes on. Not all but few websites create websites with different domains ( classified by countries ) as these websites are of companies that are global and provide services worldwide %26amp; they wanna give a personalise touch to the website depending on the country.

Like for eg the services that google provides in india would not be the same in US. another Eg. is on our indipence day the google logo would have a flag or on diwali it'll have crackers but they cant have the same for US or china right as they are not celebrating it.

Now how it happens is that they track our IP and according to that they make out what country %26amp; as per that it opens the country domain.
Reply:It usually opens up in the country that you are residing. If i type in google.com it takes me to the uk website as I reside in the UK, so if you live in India, that is why.
Reply:Just be happy you got google.
Reply:it may just be a glitch in the system. I had problems for a few days when ever I typed www.ebay.com it would take me to the Canadian version (something like www.ebay.ca) but after a few days it went back to normal.
Reply:Yep. Carella's right. When i key in google.com, it automatically changed to http://www.google.com.sg/. :)

I think it depends on the country that u live.
