Is google adsense worth the time?

I signed up for google ad sense and got approved. After submitting my checking account. I notice they now require your SS#. I thought they said if you make over $500 then you would need a social security number unless I getting this confused with google base. I leery of getting anybody my social security number. The checking account I used online is not tied to any other accounts. Is google consider ad sense consider self-employment? if so I don’t think it would be worth it becuase of taxes you would have to pay. How do I close just my google ad sense account? Sorry if wrong category.

Google will report to Uncle Sam your earnings from Adsense. They will issue you a W2 at the end of year, which means that IRS also has a copy of that.





You don't need to close it - just don't put the code in your website and don't earn from it.





We've been with the program since June 2003, giving them our EIN. And we earn 5 digits a month from Adsense -- so yes, it is SO WORTH it for us. We pay huge taxes, but that's ok because we are earning big from the program.





With Adsense, you don't even need a huge traffic to make big money from the program. As long as your site fits well with Adsense -- visitors looking for ways to spend money, users responsive to ads, great topic with high paying keywords -- you can make a good chunk even if you don't have huge traffic. But of course, more traffic means more income.





But it's your personal choice. I can understand your apprehension in giving our your SS#. One way to get around this is to get an EIN number from the IRS so you don't have to give out your SS#.

Reply:Really only if your site has a lot of traffic. If not the liklihood that the sponser links will get clicked is minimum. So I would judge based on that.





Low traffic, not worth the time, High traffic, time could be worth it.
